FAQs

Marketers trust PARS to help them make the most of the coverage they receive.

What are Full Article and/or Ratings reprints?
Full Article and/or Ratings  reprints are high-quality reproductions of original editorial coverage from one of the Consumer Reports family of publications.  They may feature your company, product or industry.  Reprints must appear in their entirety with no alterations or customization in an approved format or template. Reprints allow you to share coverage from Consumer Reports, the most respected expert, independent testing and evaluation organization in the world.  Reprints can be used on your website, as a sales tool, at trade shows, in direct mail, social media marketing and much more. Request more information by filling out our online request form.

What are E-Prints?
E-Prints let you link seamlessly to coverage featuring you, your company, product or service from your Website, email or favorite social media site. PARS will create an electronic reprint of the article and depending on the option(s) you choose, either provide you with a transparent link to your reprint hosted on a secure server or a file that you may post or distribute.  Many options are available to suite your particular needs. PARS negotiates all usage rights with the publisher and any third party rights holders on your behalf.  Request more information by filling out our online request form.

Can I just link to the content?
Linking is perfectly permissible though most of Consumer Reports content resides behind a pay wall and is accessible only to subscribers.  Use of a logo or copy to provide that link is often illegal without the consent of the publisher and adherence to specific guidelines. PARS can advise on allowable options and obtain rights and permission for you, often within 24 hours.

Can’t I just make photocopies instead?
Perhaps.  Photocopies don’t have the same impact as professionally created reprints or E-Prints, but  at times, photocopies are permissible when used in accordance with publisher guidelines and applicable copyright restrictions. A PARS consultant can determine whether your intended use requires licensing or publisher permission and, if so, can secure it for you. Contact us for more information.

What is the minimum quantity reprint order?
Minimum quantities for reprints vary and may depend on the length of the article or the number pages in the reprint. In general the minimum order for reprints is 250.  Lower quantities may be available – please contact a PARS representative or submit your request online.

What if I don’t need the whole article?
Consumer Reports guidelines require that content be reproduced in its entirety with no changes, customization’s or alterations.

Do writers, photographers, and illustrators allow reuse of their material in reprints?
The answer to this question differs from article to article and from publication to publication. Some writers and photographers have established contractual agreements that permit reuse; others have not.  Either way, when you order through PARS, your representative will ensure that reuse is taken care of.
